adidas Skate Copa in NYC This Saturday

This weekend in NYC at LES Skatepark, we're hanging out with the adidas team including two Marks that I'm definitely going to mark out on: Gonz and Suciu. It's the first stop of the adidas Skate Copa series, a national shop vs shop contest where the winning shop gets all expenses paid to the Finals at The Berrics in LA. See you there on Saturday. We're buying food and drinks for everyone on site after the contest is over, too.
Transworld CUT in Austin, Texas

This past weekend I was in Austin for 36 hours for the second stop of Transworld's Come Up Tour. I was surprised with how much I was able to do in Austin in the day and a half I was there.
Grind for Life Series at New Smyrna Beach, Florida: Video, Photos, and Recap

I've got some photos and HiDefJoe has the video. The skateboarding at last weekend's New Smyrna Beach stop of the GFL Series was all over the spectrum of different types and ages of skateboarding as usual, but this time, the bowl portion was most memorable. The street course there is not the best in the world, but just as skateboarders do, you make the best of what you've got. There were parent/child combos, toddlers, teens, girls, grown ass men, and extra grown 50+ men all ripping all day. Thanks to everyone that made it out to another one.

adidas has teamed up with The Boardr to bring you adidas Skate Copa, a US series of Shop vs. Shop Team Contests that we're excited to be running. We're announcing the dates today with full details at TheBoardr.com/adidasSkateCopa. Stops include NYC in just two weeks, Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, and the last stop and Finals being in Los Angeles at The Berrics. The Shop Team that wins each stop gets all expenses paid to join us at the Finals in LA. What a summer it's going to be getting all these Shops together and local scenes in one town for a fun skateboarding shindig and some friendly competition. See you at all of them!

Tampa Bro: A Session and BBQ in the Dream Driveway

Every year before Tampa Pro, we invite our friends in town to hang out by the river, push through the Dream Driveway, and dig in on Porpe's BBQ. Thanks to everyone that came by. We're looking forward to hanging out for the weekend and watching some great skating with no work to do for a change.
ESPN Teams with The Boardr for X Games Street and Park Skateboarding

A little over 10 years ago, Ryan and I started attending X Games events as they started to really get a lot of things right, like the course, the invited skaters, and the format. We've been attending as spectators ever since, watching the evolution of their big event. This year, we're pleased to announce that we're working with X Games and ESPN as the skateboarding organizers for the Men’s and Women’s Street and Park disciplines. For the next three years, we'll be mixing skateboard business and pleasure with our friends at ESPN, as we all continue to help evolve their skateboarding events. This year, X Games is in Austin, Texas starting June 5th.
The Boardr Bland Opening

Grind for Life Series at Lakeland Skatepark

HiDefJoe has a video recap of a great day of skating from young to old at the first stop of the Grind for Life Series in association with The Boardr. We weren't sure if 1 or 100 of you would enter. Turns out it was 143 with everyone bringing a crew of family and friends for a nice day on wheels with a good sized crowd and great Florida weather to match. Damn, it couldn't have been any better. I'll tell you the rest of the story in my photos below.
Grind for Life Series Lakeland Results

That building in Tampa near the Bucs Stadium with no sign that you might drive right past? Yep, that's us at 4611 North Hale Avenue. There's no party, no fireworks, no naked ladies jumping out of cakes, and there's not even anything to skate! It's just the door opening up if you want to stop by and check out what we're up to here and maybe play a Game of SKATE on our glorious flatground in the empty TF. Join us for the low key, mellow ass, bland opening at 11am on Monday, March 3rd. We've got a lot of work left to do. Sometime down the road we'll make the real opening grand instead of bland.
Sound Check and Prep at Lakeland Skatepark for the Contest Next Weekend

We stopped by Lakeland Skatepark today to do a sound check and a general planning session to prep for the first stop of the Grind for Life Series Street and Bowl Contests there this Saturday, March 1. The Bowl Contests are in the flow bowl and the street contests are in the main street course section.
See You in Copenhagen This Summer, August 28 - 31

You know the fine folks that have been doing the skateboard shindig in Copenhagen for the past seven years? Year after year, many of your favorite pros refer to that as one of the best pro contests of the year. We certainly think the same. This year, they're changing it up a bit. It's the CPH Bowl and will be held in a new transition structure built inside the Copenhagen Skatepark. The dates have just been set for August 28 - 31. We'll have more details soon. For now, here's the basic schedule.

In 2014, The Boardr and Grind for Life partnered up to bring back the Grind for Life Series of all ages bowl and street skateboarding contests around Florida. We're already looking forward to 2015 and will have more details as each event gets closer.
A Florida Road Trip to the East Coast

This past weekend, Porpe, Clem, and I took a road trip to the East Coast of Florida to bring Sean Malto, Matt Miller, Brad Cromer, and Steve-O to surprise our friend Jacob at his bar mitzvah. We skated, hung out at the party, and got some other business done while we were in town. Thanks Jacob and family for having us as part of your weekend. We had a great time. Maybe The Boardr should start doing celebrity birthday parties, too? I've got a camera dump here.

The Grind for Life Series in Association with The Boardr is a Florida series of all ages/skills skateboarding contests. You should pre-register now to save your spot. We are certain that most divisions will fill up and have no room for on-site registration. We will do our best to accomodate spots in the more popular divisions that fill up, but space and time is limited. Thanks and we'll see you at the Contest!

Throwforward Tuesdays: A Florida Skateboarding Series With Grind for Life

We're still lining up plans for a big ol' am series and all that, but while we figure that plan out, we went ahead and set up an easy one. We're proud to announce that Grind for Life has teamed up with us to bring an all ages/skills series contest to our home state of Florida this year. Each one is a street and a bowl contest except for the last one at The Boardr Headquarters. The Grind for Life Series in Association with The Boardr has five stops set at various parks all around the state.

The Boardr Live is a live and instant real time scoring app I wrote to help people run their skateboarding events and competitions quicker, easier, and with less of a headache, fumbling with paper, spreadsheets, etc. I just recorded this quick demo that shows the entire process from start to finish.
