X Games 2014 Course and Arrival in Austin

Posted by Rob Meronek on Monday, June 2, 2014

On Sunday after adidas Skate Copa ATL, we drove straight from Atlanta to Austin where we arrived at around midnight to get to work on X Games Austin this week. I've got a few photos of the course and our short night out last night in downtown Austin. It's going to be a week of ripping rolling and top quality chill time in this fun city and skateboard shindig that includes a show with Kanye, Mac Miller, The Flaming Lips, and more. I hope you're in Austin, Texas this week.

The SPRATX is a collective of street artists in Austin. 20 of them have done their work on various sections of the course turning it into a pretty tight looking place to shred.

Check out more of ER's work on his site, everydayresearch.com. The GIF page is amazing.

It's like the skateboarding version of National Lampoon's Wallie World right here.

A long but mellow step up over some junk is looking very old guy friendly. Very young guy friendly would be coming in from the other way on that rail on those bank ledges.

CA Ramp Works is still kicking up dust on some final touches on everything they're building here.

The other side of Wallie World has some VIP seating.

A bench with pool coping is looking pretty interesting.

There's plenty of run up to clear Porpe's bank gap.

The other side of the step up has a small bump.

This is where you'll find me.

I wonder what madness is going to get done on this thing?

Got some Peptobismol here for anyone who pukes after their run.

Next to the street course is the Park bowl getting trimmed up.

Last night when we got in, Jorge and I pushed around through the empty streets for a skateboard stroll and a beer or two.

Found a bump to bar neither of us will be jumping.

We ended up at Friends bar, where the blues jams are live and the band members are interchangeable.

They've been doing Sunday night blues here for 30 years at this bar. Big John here has probably been to every one.

Big John is a friendly, happy dude. Thanks for the photo.

Big John's footwear isn't suitable for skateboarding. Good night ya'll. Again, I hope you're in Austin this week or next week or both. Next weekend we're doing another adidas Skate Copa here in Austin. See you around out there!
