Some Local Skateparks and Lurkin' in Austin With the SOTY
Published 6/4/2014 by Rob Meronek
We've been able to break out for a bit while on the job here at X Games Austin. Check out a bit from some of the local parks here, including the House Park where adidas Skate Copa will be next weekend.

This local park is pretty outdated, but no matter how much a skatepark kind of sucks, you still end up having a good time rolling around. At least the locals here aren't stuck with something 1000 times worse than this like the Bro Bowl in Tampa. Did I mention that whole situation makes me wanna puke?
We met Erik Ramirez here ripping. He's born and raised here in Austin. Shortly after this nollie big spin, he did nollie big heel first try. You can make it work with a substandard outdated park, unless it's beyond outdated and doesn't even have a basic grindable lip or anything modern anywhere like the Bro Bowl that a handful of skateboarders in Tampa succeeded in turning into a roadblock to skateboarding progression. Makes me wanna puke.
Porpe met Brandon Lopez here at the TWS Cut stop in Austin a while back. Transworld used The Boardr Live, our event management and live scoring app. We got Zumiez, Nike, Zappos, Vans, adidas, Kimberley Diamond Cup, Copenhagen, and more people doing good things in skateboarding using it these days. Hit me up if you have questions on that, rob@theboardr.com. Okay, sales pitch over. Brandon, nice hardflip here.
I'm now blasting out seven social networks for The Boardr: Twitter, Instagram, Google+, Tumblr, Vine, Facebook, and Snap Chat. That's a lot of work but we sure are having a good time doing it, especially with all of you that recently added us on Snap Chat that we're doing behind the scenes and random silly crap on with our Story. Social media guru Fred Van Schie here can give you some tips on all that networking stuff. Maybe we could use some pointers.
Wait, who's holding the shop down right now? James is out here, too, Smith stalling to gap back in. He's at a new point in his relationship where he's going to meet the parents for the first time tonight. Nice meeting you, James. I'm sure your girl's parents will get the same nice impression we got.
We ran out of patience for the bat swarm and bounced. These are the kinds of spots that make Ishod stop. Well, it's late and we have an early morning again for the first day of practice sessions on site at the big skateboard shindig tomorrow. I hope you're in Austin this week. If not, I got it all documented in photos along with HiDefJoe video coming soon. Good night again, ya'll.

ESPN Teams with The Boardr for X Games Street and Park Skateboarding

A little over 10 years ago, Ryan and I started attending X Games eventsas they started to really get a lot of things right, like the course, the invited skaters, and the format. We've been attending as spectators ever since, watching the evolution of their big event. This year, we're pleased to announce that we're working with X Games and ESPN as the skateboarding organizers for the Men’s and Women’s Street and Park disciplines. For the next three years, we'll be mixing skateboard business and pleasure with our friends at ESPN, as we all continue to help evolve their skateboarding events. This year, X Games is in Austin, Texas starting June 5th.
On The Boardr with Clint Walker: Shoe Sponsors, Herpes, X Games Real Street
5/27/2014
HiDefJoe caught up with Clint Walker while we were recently in Las Vegas for a new episode of On The Boardr with Clint. Who ignored Clint's sponsor me tape? Why can't Clint get a shoe sponsor? Who is Jock and why does Clint hate him? He started filming for his X Games Real Street part just four months ago and discusses all that and more. It's a nice view into Clint's personality, too. Hey sketchy skateboard industry, let's get some shoes on this dude!

HiDefJoe and I went back home for a few days while Jorge and Ryan stayed in Austin all week. We're all back together now in Austin for adidas Skate Copa tomorrow at House Park. While here, Joe's on street filming missing with Jereme Knibbs while the rest of us hold it down at the park and work in between. I've got a camera dump for you, of course.
