Innoskate at Polk Museum in Lakeland for Go Skateboarding Day

If you were here early, you could get plenty of one on one chat time with Rodney Mullen. I heard interesting discussions about everything from video games to inventing tricks.

Chad Cardoza and his wife Suzie started Kick Start My Art. Chad is speaking today on a panel with Rodney.

Mike Frazier is here to speak on the history of skateboarding in Florida.

Paul Schmitt came with some boards done up by Neil Blender.

An early morning session started on this crazy quarter to bar. Jereme's got a hop up to feeble and back in.

Jereme goes up and over the other way. Looks pretty damn dangerous!

Professor Schmitt is here to discuss the evolution of deck shapes. These boards he brought with him represent the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's of board shapes.

Yep, Rodney's still hanging out.

Chris Deacon, Ryan Clements, and Chris Gay all have their own history of skateboarding in Tampa over the last 25 or so years.

During Professor Schmitt's talk on skateboard deck evolution, Sam and the crew tried tricks on each decades' board shape. The 90's deck of course was easy for a 360 flip.

The 70's board was not as easy to 360 flip, but Sam's got it still. When you see this, it's insane to think that our little human minds were simply limited by what we had not seen done yet, not by the tools and equipment we had access too and had yet to invent. I wonder what we're capable of right now but don't even know it simply because we are generally creatures that need to see something be done before we realize we can do it. Those few people that push that boundary are so important not just to the human race, but to little things like skateboarding to progress.

Sam's got an easy 360 flip on the 80's board, too.

Professor Schmitt had a good time talking as well as us listening.

The 60's board has no nose or tail which of course makes more modern tricks much harder. Aaron's got moves from back in the day, though.

You pretty much have to pressure flip to do anything on this board.

Jereme's got a super sketchy front rock on that 60's board.

Tim Payne is on the panel to discuss Florida skateboarding history. He's built a thing or two here.
