It's quite a diverse audience in the skateboard contest crowd at a Grind for Life event. From tykes to girls to men over 50 skating, you're guaranteed to find something entertaining. Amelia was on site to chat, including busting Jared for taking a dump on The Boardr Bus RV, a known no-no among the crew.

The City of Lakeland Officially Gets It in Skateboarding

The City of Lakeland has officially proclaimed the weekend of Go Skateboarding Day this year as a Skateboard Friendly City Weekend. On Saturday, June 21, at Innoskate, we'll be pushing through the City of Lakeland from Lake Bonny Skatepark to the Polk Museum of Art, where we'll see Rodney Mullen and Paul Schmitt break down skateboarding and their history with it. It was a beautiful day to be both a skate rat and skate nerd today in the City of Lakeland for Go Skateboarding Day. The Smithsonian, Polk Museum of Art, and IASC teamed up for the Innoskate program and taught us all new things, regardless of your new or seasoned veteran status as a lifelong skateboarder. There were 162 total entries with 69 of those being skaters new to the Grind for Life Series. Many of you also skated your first contest ever with us. All those good times plus contributing to the Grind for Life cause of battling cancer? What a Saturday. Thanks to everyone that was a part of it.
