$2.4 Million Paid to Skateboarders in 2015: Statistics and Contest Earnings
Published 12/16/2015 by Rob Meronek
Well it sure pays to be a contest skater these days. $2.4 million in prize money was paid out at skateboarding contests in 2015. We've got a summary of that and some other numbers from our mountain of skateboarding data here at The Boardr. Much of the data comes from our industry associates using The Boardr Live, our live and instant scoring and registration app for skateboarding events. We also enter results and prize money from other major events in the industry.
Key links to some of our data:

- Skateboarder Database - the full, searchable list of the most comprehensive and currently maintained list of professional and amateur skateboarders on the web.

The Boardr Live is our live and instant scoring software that is used at most of the skateboarding events we run. I dove into the numbers to get some end of the year stats on the 4,000+ skater profiles that were created and/or updated. We've got pros, ams, and former pros in our database which throws the pro/am percentage total off a bit, FYI.

Skate by Numbers: Planning a Contest Format with an Element of Time
9/20/2013
Let me warn you, this article and this new feature I'm starting called Skate by Numbers is nerdy, grow'd up, and bid'niss as hell. It has to do with all the things you probably hate in school if you're still stuck in that youth jail. Math, spreadsheets, numbers, addition, multiplication, logic, and all that.
An Innovative and Experimental Trick for Trick Skateboard Scoring System Demonstration
11/25/2015
What I’m showing you today is a new technology I developed for scoring a skateboard contest. Right now, skateboard judging is 100% subjective. I want an option that makes it more objective, easier for a non-expert audience to understand, has more accountability, and of course is more fair to the skaters.

Why is Skateboarding Contest Participation on the Decline?
6/13/2016
Ever since I started working in the skateboarding industry, I've wondered if real skateboarding is growing or shrinking. The data out there isn't all that great, so all I've ever had to go on was my own when I formerly worked for Skatepark of Tampa prior to 2013. SPoT continues to do all the same things they've done, including their all ages contests. At The Boardr, we do similar ones on the Grind for Life Series, but they're spread all over Florida.
