Based on the intro and what you've seen from Asphalt Yacht Club so far (and the party city), you might have thought this entire Miami video would be popping bottles instead of ollies, but get past that first 15 seconds and slow mo ASSphalt and it's straight to ripping from Stevie Williams, Stefan, Nyjah, and more, all dominated by Riley Hawk. What a crew. Ripping skating has had a good track record of silencing sideline skateboard critics. We'll see if it works for AYC. I for sure can't hate.

Jeremy Leabres sets it off in the intro for Chapter One of the Emerica Made series. How about that frontside bluntslide to bigspin out where he lands in the next county over? Damn, I don't know Jeremy at all, but I'm looking forward to seeing him skate in person for sure. We got the same half Philipino, half white status. Jeremy's part is isane and it only goes up from there with Leo, Collin, and Brandon, plus the ripping TM. You've probably already seen it by now, but you know it's worth another check. Emerica is killing it as usual.

New Balance Numeric is coming in hot with their first video featuring PJ Ladd, Arto Saari, Levi Brown, Tom Karangelov, Jordan Taylor, and Tyler Surrey. Russell Houghten shot and directed it so you know it's going to be cinema quality. It's not just the skating that will leave you wondering, How did they do that? The effects are insane. How do you mix stills, slow mo, and regular speed video in the same frames? And, how do you nollie noseslide out of a nose manual or backside 180 nosegrind to frontside 360 shuv it out?

Ride has an alternate edit from that Asphalt Yacht Club Miami piece featuring Nyjah Huston, Stevie Williams, Riley Hawk, and the rest of the AYC crew. They killed it at all those spots. I want to see Stefan's cell phone edit! And Riley's ollie over to Willy grind? We'll just call that an ollie over to switch hurricane so it sounds less gross.

Riley Hawk's Cartoon Splat

I don't watch these Thrasher Hall of Meat videos because I can't watch how gnar some of them are, but this one i had to check just based on the thumbnail. Riley Hawk has full cartoon character splat on this long smith grind to vertical face plant. It's not bad at all and good for a laugh.

When we started The Boardr Store earlier this year, Stevie Williams and AYC were immediately down. During their recent lookbook shoot, I was able to talk some business with Stevie about starting AYC, his past ventures in skateboarding, and what some of his favorite gear is. I agree with Stevie that some of your most valuable lessons can come from your failures, too. We discussed when to throw in the towel on a project and more.

Whenever I’m on the road and have the opportunity to take advantage of a home-cooked meal, I’m stoked. So with the Asphalt Yacht Club team in town for the Zumiez Best Foot Forward contest, I figured we could extend the courtesy to the dudes and have them over to skate and eat. The rain stopped the skating, but we still got to hang for a few hours.
