15 Years of Mark Gonzales
8/11/2013
Sometimes I find it not so fun being an aging skateboarder, but one of the best things about being around skateboarding for this long is getting to see the entire career of one of skateboarding's brightest stars and brilliant characters, Mark Gonzales. I was an instant fan as soon as I started to learn more about real skateboarding in the late 80's. Adidas has a great 15 year recap of Gonz and all his antics with interviews from some of skateboarding's top filmers and photographers.

It's Not Your Fault, It's Not My Fault, It's the Asphalt

Based on the intro and what you've seen from Asphalt Yacht Club so far (and the party city), you might have thought this entire Miami video would be popping bottles instead of ollies, but get past that first 15 seconds and slow mo ASSphalt and it's straight to ripping from Stevie Williams, Stefan, Nyjah, and more, all dominated by Riley Hawk. What a crew. Ripping skating has had a good track record of silencing sideline skateboard critics. We'll see if it works for AYC. I for sure can't hate.

New Balance Numeric's Quids In

The New Balance team and film maker Russell Houghten were recently in England where the skating ripped of course, but damn the film work of Russell is off the charts. It's insane to see that kind of video quality in skateboarding. Great work from the whole team. One insane frontside noseslide by Marquise in there, too - people need to do that trick more. This one has to be full screen HD kickback and enjoy mode for real.
