Whenever I’m on the road and have the opportunity to take advantage of a home-cooked meal, I’m stoked. So with the Asphalt Yacht Club team in town for the Zumiez Best Foot Forward contest, I figured we could extend the courtesy to the dudes and have them over to skate and eat. The rain stopped the skating, but we still got to hang for a few hours. Thanks to James for the photos.

We had to bring the grill into the garage due to the rain. Jenna handled the cooking while I sat around and talked skateboarding crap for hours.
So much for a session on the Dream Driveway. I was really looking forward to showing Nyjah how good my frontside grinds are.

When we got this sweat-outfit in at The Boardr I thought, 'I wonder how this stuff is going to sell.' Well, it’s been moving nicely, but that’s probably because Stevie wears it so well.
Jesse Fritsch is the man behind the scenes at AYC and has been a pal of mine since before I even worked in skateboarding.
A man of few words, Justin Ryan showed up, socialized briefly, and dipped. I’m surprised that his appearance was even captured.
I generally only see Nyjah in contest settings and places where there are lots of people, so it was cool to be able rap out with him and hear his opinion on all things skateboarding without microphones recording every comment.

Based on the intro and what you've seen from Asphalt Yacht Club so far (and the party city), you might have thought this entire Miami video would be popping bottles instead of ollies, but get past that first 15 seconds and slow mo ASSphalt and it's straight to ripping from Stevie Williams, Stefan, Nyjah, and more, all dominated by Riley Hawk. What a crew. Ripping skating has had a good track record of silencing sideline skateboard critics. We'll see if it works for AYC. I for sure can't hate.
