Throwforward Tuesdays: All In on a Skateboard Warehouse
Published 12/17/2013 by Rob Meronek
On this Saturday night, Ryan Clements had just flown back in from some west coast meetings. While he was gone, we closed on our building and got the keys. We picked him up at the airport and all went straight to our new home to check it out. One giant sorta scary first step in building a skateboarding company has been taken, now it's time for thousands of little ones to follow. As soon as more of our plans for 2014 get solid, we'll have a filmer on staff and you won't have to endure my sketchy iPhone videos with bad sound and no lighting.

12/10/2013
Every week on Tuesday, we're dropping a little bit of info on our plans and bid'niss doings for the future. Here's the first installment. You shopped for shoes and gadgets on Black Friday? We shopped for real estate. Specifically, buildings. Specifically, warehouses.
Welcome to The Boardr
8/1/2013
Well I need somewhere to put all this silly crap I like to do like foot fetish, Nerdsday Thursday, skate photos, silly videos, and other random banter. So, I started The Boardr today after my last day at Skatepark of Tampa. The Boardr will house all the stuff I love about skateboarding plus a new system I'm creating to help people simply and easily run skateboarding events with a digital, mobile scoring system. Shortly after August, it then evolved into a full blown skateboarding professional services company where I'm partnered up with Ryan Clements. Thanks for stopping by.

Before construction, there must be destruction. After closing on our building last week, we're making progress on The Boardr Headquarters as you can see in these photos by Justin Ryan.

Before we can build the skate stuff, we have to get the bill paying stuff done. That would be retail and office space. I can't wait to get started back in retail and customer service again. We'll be open for online orders in just a few weeks!
2013 Year in Review With The Boardr, SPoT Fallout, and More
12/31/2013
December 26, 2012: I'm starting this a few days prior to the end of the year last year. I was super happy with how 2012 went. We turned retail and margins around a few years prior and the health of the business was showing that, Justin Ryan's brand management in our shop was working great, SPoTlight Productions was killing it with worldwide events, the staff was hyped, and I proudly cheered to my partners (Clements, Schaefer, and Porpe) about how excited I was about 2013 coming to continue it all together.
Two Milestones at The Boardr This Week
1/23/2014
A couple things happened this week that made it seem that much more real with all this skateboard bid'niss building we're doing around here. We got our first order of retail inventory in and our first online registration dollar hit the account.

There's so much going on here from events planning to systems work to physical buildout to financial stuff to skate park ideas that I can't even keep track of where I'm at and what I've documented. We're working smart and steady here still putting our 2014 together while I pause here for an update. Our tenants in the other half of our warehouse are now out so we can start figuring out what will work for our facility to play with our skateboards in.
The Boardr Doors Opening Soon
2/20/2014
For the past couple of weeks we set up our offices inside the empty store at The Boardr. Looks like we need a new place to conduct the behind-the-scenes business since our first displays arrived today. Here are some photos of the progress. We open on March 3rd.
Join Us Monday for The Bland Opening of The Boardr Store
2/27/2014
That building in Tampa near the Bucs Stadium with no sign that you might drive right past? Yep, that's us at 4611 North Hale Avenue. There's no party, no fireworks, no naked ladies jumping out of cakes, and there's not even anything to skate! It's just the door opening up if you want to stop by and check out what we're up to here and maybe play a Game of SKATE on our glorious flatground in the empty TF. Join us for the low key, mellow ass, bland opening at 11am on Monday, March 3rd. We've got a lot of work left to do. Sometime down the road we'll make the real opening grand instead of bland.
The Boardr Bland Opening
3/5/2014
As we mentioned, we've got a lot more work to do before we can make this opening grand, so for now, it's bland. We put together a video and some photos of the Store for you after this week's Bland Opening of The Boardr Store. We're just getting started, ya'll. Thanks for following along.
