Yonnie Cruz on The Boardr: Static IV, GX1000 Plans, and More
Published 5/7/2014 by Rob Meronek
Are you ready for the Static IV premiere this Friday at Tampa Theater at 10pm? We are hyped. HiDefJoe has Yonnie Cruz on The Boardr in our new feature where he discusses the GX edits and where it's going, what it was like filming for his Static IV part, and more. I first met Yonnie in 2002 when he was just starting to get good at skating and was beyond stoked on every new thing he learned from basic kickflips to bomb drops off the ramp decks. That outgoing, excitable personality remains through today where it's nice to see matched with great style in skateboarding. See you this Friday at the Static premiere in downtown Tampa. There's free parking on the streets north of Kennedy. Prior to that at 6pm, we'll be at Tampa Workspace for a Pep Kim art show.

Yonnie Cruz' Incognito Part

Theories and Mike Atwood have Yonnie's full Incognito part. To me, Yonnie embodies the type of skater that Josh Stewart's Static series captures. Speaking of Josh, Jenkem has a great interview with him.
GX1000 in Montreal

Now, every time I see footage of Yonnie, I'm expecting something indoors. He comes through with more ripping in the new GX1000 along with Jake Johnson, Antoine Asselin, Brian Delatorre, Phil Lajuenesse, Charles Rivaro, and Alexis Lacroix wrapping it up with a scary manny to 5-0 on a round rail and a ski jump wallie.
GX1000 in SF

Ryan G was nice and polite to shut the door after Ben Gore kicks it off in this new GX edit withYonnie, Jake Johnson (that wallie front 5050!), Jimmy Lannon (joining the camo pants brigade), Dela (that backside boneless in the streets!), Tampa local Jereme Knibbs with a nice line, Wes Kremer capping it off at Clipper, and more homies in the streets of SF. Tricks over bums, China banks, and all those SF spots you know.

Static IV Premiere at Tampa Theater

Thanks to Josh Stewart for keeping the art and craft of skateboarding and how it's documented consistent with what made us all fall in lifelong love with it in the first place. I snapped a few chill cam shots throughout the night that started at Tampa Workspace and ended at the showing at Tampa Theater.
On The Boardr with Clint Walker: Shoe Sponsors, Herpes, X Games Real Street
5/27/2014
HiDefJoe caught up with Clint Walker while we were recently in Las Vegas for a new episode of On The Boardr with Clint. Who ignored Clint's sponsor me tape? Why can't Clint get a shoe sponsor? Who is Jock and why does Clint hate him? He started filming for his X Games Real Street part just four months ago and discusses all that and more. It's a nice view into Clint's personality, too. Hey sketchy skateboard industry, let's get some shoes on this dude!
