Fat Bob Makes Getting Old, Fat Look Good

Published 8/23/2014 by Rob Meronek

Bob Reynolds just turned 40 and as goes what seems to be a damn good trend these days, has filmed a part to release for his birthday. Damn, Bob! Happy Birthday! You can find Bob on the judging staff at events The Boardr hosts. You can also find him in yet another super good Bobby Worrest part from Quartersnacks for their new Dunk.

The feeling of getting old really is just a bad attitude towards a silly number measurement, right? You're in control of that bad attitude and can change it. Keep rolling no matter what your stupid number is.

You can find Vern on the mic at a lot of events we do, plus team managing for Bones Wheels and Bearings, among other things in skateboarding. Yesterday was his 40th birthday where he dropped this part that would have anyone at 30 thinking they need to step their push up. Happy Birthday, Vern. Killing it!

Neal's part for Elephant Brand is filmed right in his office. That would be the vert ramp at Woodward. I bet all the kids at Woodward Digital Skate camp had something to do with those effects. Where was that camp when I was a kid?

When you're 42, it's nice that the best city in the world for street skating has spots that are old guy friendly. I could spend all day at this low impact bump to grass gap. Photos and of course a cell phone edit coming up later. Thanks to HiDefJoe for filming these two clips of me this weekend.

I'm a skateboarder that could be your dad's age, but I'm still surprised and blown away when I see other skateboarders your dad's age still killing it like these guys in the Masters and Legend's divisions in the Vans Pool Party. Thrasher's edit wraps it up nicely. I hope you're still pushing by that age. Don't ever quit or get lazy and you'll be fine.

How many of us old guys were inspired by Vern Laird's 40th Birthday part?. I know I was. Ryan Clements was, too. He turned 41 today and filmed this line in the Dream Driveway before work this morning. Happy Birthday, Clements!

Yep, Skateboarding Gets Better and More Rewarding When You're Older

Yep, Skateboarding Gets Better and More Rewarding When You're Older

Last week was Vern Laird's amazing old guy part that he filmed for his 40th birthday. That was no park shark popa either, Vern's was all real street. This week, we've got another amazing one from friend and many times co-worker of The Boardr, Neal Hendrix, who has been shredding the U for as long as we've all been skateboarding. Both he and Vern have similar quotes regarding filming a part later in life: 'It's funny how it's more rewarding at 40 than at 20.' Don't quit skateboarding, kids, even through growing up with jobs, girlfriends, bills, and weaker legs. You'll be so glad you stayed committed to rolling. Yep, I'm saying it again: Skateboarding is the fountain of youth. Check out Neal's new, ripping vert part at 41. RIP Brandon Ream.
