Recap: adidas Skate Copa at Los Angeles and Finals at The Berrics

Posted by Jorge Angel aka Porpe on Thursday, July 17, 2014

Last weekend was a busy one for The Boardr. Rob and Paul Zitzer were in Vancouver running the Van Doren Invitational, while the rest of the crew was in Los Angeles at The Berrics for adidas Skate Copa West Coast Regionals and Finals. Joe's got footage of a nice lurk through hosted by Scotty The Body and Tim O'Connor and I've got photos below. Catch the full skate edits on The Berrics site soon.

We didn’t even realize Bill Cosby was on our flight from Tampa to Los Angeles. The Body had to get the creeper style photo.

First stop was PizzaNista. We were hoping for a SOTY spotting of Salman Agah. We got some good pizza, but no SOTY spotting.

Christian Dufrene was one of the first skaters to arrive from Rukus Skate Shop who qualified for Finals. Here is a hardflip.

At each one of our stops we had a screen showing live score updates using The Boardr Live. Santa Cruz Boardroom was stoked to see that after their jam they were sitting in 1st Place.

Vern Laird is an ATV of skateboarding jobs. When he isn’t managing a team, filming, or announcing, he is DJ Swiss Dreads.

Video coverage of adidas Skate Copa West Coast Regionals and Finals will be provided by The Berrics. We will let you know when they are up. They got all the angles.

Active Ride Shop used the one pro skater per team rule properly by having Jordan Hoffart on the team. This laserflip helped the team get to the Finals the next day.

There was elaborate introductions for each of the shops that made it into the adidas Skate Copa Finals. Body being the one of the Masters of Ceremonies, he had to come up with material to introduce each team. He did not disappoint.

Tyrone Olson and John Montessi were in attendance to see the Finals.

This is probably the best trophy in all of sports. This is the adidas Skate Copa Trophy designed by the legend himself, Mark Gonzales.

Pusha T’s performance was epic to say the least.

Did I mention that Chris Brown also made a guest appearance and did a song with Pusha T. You know I had to get a photo.

At the end of the night Body had to get a photo doing a trick with the tux on. Thank you adidas and The Berrics for being amazing partners in making the adidas Skate Copa a reality. Looking forward to doing this again next year.
