Southbound and Down: Photos and an On The Boardr Episode

Posted by Rob Meronek on Tuesday, October 14, 2014

Finally, we were in town to have our first event at The Boardr Headquarters after a super busy summer and fall of events in everyone else's backyard. I've got a few photos to go with the On The Boardr episode above from what turned out to be a super chill and fun day of bikes, skateboarding, a little booze, and a lot of friends meeting a lot of other friends as these worlds of four wheels and two wheels spent an entire day together. I hope you were here!

Thanks to PBR and Emerica for backing Southbound and Down. We're staying gold, cold, and for me, old.

You can't just go from Dirt Weasel back to plain old Alex. Alex is no dirt weasel anymore, though. I'll just refer to him as The Wease from now on. Nice frontside flip, Wease.

The Wease has a nice leveled out Meron grab. I've been doing them for 25 years now. They don't quite look like this, of course.

I'm all about the parental documentation these days. This mom was filming every drop in.

Inside you can get a break from the heat and inked up by Tom. Casey will get you free Gatorade, too.

If your ride was in this lineup, thanks for stopping by.

I wanna roll dice with this dude. I'd probably roll him for my bike since I'm such a careless gambler.

Can a crew of random lurkers look any damn cooler than that?

Scott Bentley, proprietor of Bentley Salon, was giving out complimentary trims.

I can't even picture myself balancing on that.

The raffle here had some serious gear from Loser Machine and other companies at the show. This couple claims they never win anything and are walking away with this cruiser.

Meanwhile, the ledge session inside heats up while HiDefJoe documents.

Just like in skateboarding, the bike scene has all kinds.

Your classic old school move on mini ramp, the feeble to fakie.

Kevin Sullivan must have come straight from the BAR exam.

Thanks for lurkin' with us.

Tom McKessey, backside smith. The transition and height is the perfect match for good and locked smith grinds.

The Editor might have to start a sister publication for this below the coping action. Roberto Vega is the second switch edger cover.

Did you know we have a moat in front of The Boardr?

Thanks to the neighbors for letting us overtake your lot. Not all the neighbors were that nice.

Thanks again for rolling here, ya'll.

Next year, get here early for the good food. Porpe and Casey cooked it up so deluxe that people had to ask to make sure the food was all free. Yep!

That was insane how fast all that PBR went.

Over in The Boardr Store next door, Matt Welch is putting Kung Pow Chicken in the air.

It's a family friendly event. Ever, Sloane, Alvis, and Frankie are holding down the romper room floor with me in The Boardr Store.

Shawn, thanks for bringing this to The Boardr HQ. We're already looking forward to next year. Make sure that dude in the racoon pants comes, too.

Ripping moms, Brittany and Jenna. Okay, it's time for us to get these babies home. Thanks for stopping by, everyone. HiDefJoe's video will be ready in a few days. Right now it's Sunday afternoon the day after and we're all in the airport on the way to South Africa.
