What if there was a funding option similar to GoFundMe on every skater profile on TheBoardr.com? It would be an "always open" fund to contribute to, unlike GoFundMe which has specific campaigns and an end date.
Skaters could then request their funds whenever it reaches say $100 or more, minus some processing fees.
I've been asking around lately about what people would think of that and it seems like all positive responses, so today I'm putting it out there.
You can now have a "Donate" button on your profile on The Boardr to collect contributions from the public after we verify a few things with you and approve it.
To apply, go to your profile and click the Apply button to get started.
We'll see how it goes from here. Some ideas and notes for the future:
- Allowing skaters to pay their entry fees to major events with their Boardr Fund.
- Getting skater sponsors to throw in product so offers like, "The next 10 people who contribute $20 or more to Billy Bob get a set of wheels from Spitfire."
- Having a program where brands associated with skaters agree to match donations made by the public.
- And it goes on and on.
- Got any ideas you'd like to see me get done? I'd love to hear them.
