In 1993, I created the best job in the world for myself at Skatepark of Tampa. First, I started helping with the bookkeeping so I could skate for free. Then I joined full-time in 2001, where I wrote the inventory and POS system and created the online store, while posting on the site and being on the front of all social media, too. Over 20,000 photos, 1,200 articles, and 6,600 blog posts later, today was no easy choice to resign and move on from SPoT. I will finish out the month of July on staff helping everyone with the transition into working without my support. They're going to do great as usual after that, of course.

I wish Brian and the staff the best. It's been a fun 20 years. The experiences and things I've learned with Skatepark of Tampa have made me who I am and I could not be more thankful that I was kept so close to skateboarding all those years.

I own a significant portion of Damn Am, which is a separate company from Skatepark of Tampa. You'll still see me running things there, including AmsterDamn Am next week, and then Damn Am Shanghai and Damn Am NYC in August.

Thanks for checking out everything from SPoT over the years. I go into more detail on my decision with a small timeline of some of my big moments and accomplishments during my tenure on my personal site at meronek.com. Thanks for reading and I hope everything's good on your side. I got some time to talk, so I'd love to hear from you. Maybe we can work together one day. I'm looking forward to seeing what opportunities in skateboarding are out there.
