Recap: Dustin Blauvelt Wins The Boardr Am at Detroit

Posted by Rob Meronek on Wednesday, April 8, 2015

Congrats, Dustin! After the second of three runs in the Finals, Jereme was in first and Dustin knew he had to step it up. He stepped for sure and now Dustin is joining us at X Games Austin where The Boardr Am Finals are going down. Thanks everyone and Modern Skatepark for hosting.

Half of The Boardr Boys crew goes road trip, the other half goes by air. The road trips involved a lot of scenes like this.

We landed in Detroit early, but a rainy day had us lost without skating. So, we went into tourist mode and went to Eminem's house he grew up in, now torn down after a recent fire. People take bark from the tree out front as souvenirs.

George has owned Modern Skatepark since long before we were all rolling. We're hyped to meet him and get the tour of the place prior to the Contest.

George has a stockpile of old skate stuff, including this Indy Rollerskate Truck. Wow, I keep forgetting skateboarding roots are in rollerskating.
Profile:

Speaking of rollerskates, we found this old adidas boot in his pile of 30+ years of stash.

Anyone even know what copers are?

Now we're at the Packard factory for more tourist mission while the rain dumps.

Now we're at local B. Nektar Meadery where they mix up tasty sudsy brew and were kind enough to invite the whole crew over for dinner and a facility tour.
