On The Boardr: The Finals in South Africa and Photos from the Week

That crowd reaction when Nassim edged out Nyjah in the second round by just a few points was insane. They almost brought all the tents down. Here's the recap of the ripping in the Finals of the Skateboarding World Championships at Kimberley Diamond Cup in a new episode of On The Boardr. I've also got a camera dump below.

Right after this frontside 50-50 to backside 180 out, Nassim switch hippie jumped the flat bar and the crowd went insane. It was like they already knew he had beat Nyjah in his first bracket. We soon found out that Nassim had in fact beat him by just over three points.
Before the long work days start, we make time to go see lions.

Jeff Gonzales and Mark Issa. It was crazy meeting people from around the world that were already friends like Jeff and Mark here from Manila and Beirut.

The fireworks show was insane.
This dude in the middle there did a crazy human beat box dub step show before Lil John came on.
Quit a nightlife scene.
A super good dance circle started.
I believe this performer's name was Baby M.
Mos Def's daughters live in Cape Town and both skate. She got down in the dance circle and fended off sketchy boys very nicely.
Body was making friends and fans all over South Africa, including local politicians.

It was a pleasure having dinner with this tight crew after the Contest.
We're at this old place called The Kimberley Club.

Leaving the next morning, we ran into Dlamini and his broken board that cost him the bracket loss.

Our layover in Johannesburg is long enough for us to be able to go to the generic ass mall.
South Africa has a lot of desert.
They drive on the other side of the road here.
When the event is over, we're right back to regular work, even though we aren't even home yet. Here's the scene in the airport in Johannesburg at our makeshift office. Porpe's fancy beverage gets him through the office grind. Thanks everyone in Kimberley for hosting and having us for another event.

There's a thousand different ways to either create or get a job for yourself in the skateboarding industry and I'm continuing these chats with people here and there on how they're making it happen. Our friend Chinner packed it up from California and moved to the other end of the world for a skateboarding job. He lives in South Africa! Crazy. He's doing local skate events and other things with the World Skateboarding organization. This weekend, he's using The Boardr Live. I caught up with him to discuss how it's going for him down there.

How Nyjah Huston Lost to Nassim Guammaz in South Africa

Half way through the 3 minute jam, you could hear the crowd getting more and more live as it became apparent that Nassim had a chance of beating Nyjah in their first head to head bracket. Then the crowd started chanting for Nassim. After the last minute of the jam with both skaters getting in their bangers, it was Nassim on top by just 1.33 points to advance. When it was announced, the crowd went nuts. Nyjah smiled and congratulated Nassim for knocking him out of the brackets. In the end, Kelvin who didn't have to skate against Nyjah because of that, ended up winning the $100k. The tricks here are just a small sample of what went down. HiDefJoe is only one person filming these two rippers.
