The New Balance team and film maker Russell Houghten were recently in England where the skating ripped of course, but damn the film work of Russell is off the charts. Half way through the 3 minute jam, you could hear the crowd getting more and more live as it became apparent that Nassim had a chance of beating Nyjah in their first head to head bracket. Then the crowd started chanting for Nassim. After the last minute of the jam with both skaters getting in their bangers, it was Nassim on top by just 1.33 points to advance. When it was announced, the crowd went nuts. Nyjah smiled and congratulated Nassim for knocking him out of the brackets. In the end, Kelvin who didn't have to skate against Nyjah because of that, ended up winning the $100k. The tricks here are just a small sample of what went down. HiDefJoe is only one person filming these two rippers.

Then we started seeing him in Vegas and more on the west coast. Now he's got this ripping Stereo part that just came through. Black Dave loaned his camo pants to Nick? From those to the cuffed up boyfriend jeans, Nick's pants variety in this part rivals any LA runway show. Nick sort of reminds me of a young, sober Eli Reed.

I never thought front foot flips would ever look good until years ago when I saw P-Rod show up at a pro contest we were running. He basically brought them back. Just a few months later, that one part where he used Kanye's song came out where he took the front foot flick to the streets, ending his part with that nollie front foot flip crooked grind on a ledge. I first met Daryl Angel way way back in 2002 when he skated an am contest we were running. Out of 108 skaters that day, he placed 105th. Sometimes it just happens that way for your first big contest. It's been a fun few months of building a company from scratch. Today, we set an accounting formality and officially started The Boardr payroll. The first four employees are Ryan Clements, Jorge Angel aka Porpe, Bob Freeman, and Rob Meronek behind the lens here. I wonder how long this is going to last? I would guess 2013 to infinity. Thank you for the support, thanks skateboarding for everything else, and here's to 2014! That other document Ryan is holding is another piece of important sentiment for us that I'll address in another post. I just wanted to have it in this memorable photo and early milestone.

I was an instant fan as soon as I started to learn more about real skateboarding in the late 80's.
