Recap: adidas Skate Copa at Sao Paulo

Posted by Jorge Angel aka Porpe on Tuesday, September 1, 2015

With a last minute plan coming together for this stop, Porpe and Vern were the only #BoardrBoys that had the visa hookup to get to Brazil to run the show for another stop of adidas Skate Copa. Congrats to the crew from Ratus Skate Shop there that will be headed to the US for the Global Finals at The Berrics in September.

I've got a little tour of Parque Ana Maria Brandão located in a small township in the outskirts of São Paulo.

Brazilians have pop. I don't think this dude skated in adidas Skate Copa, but he has a mean backside smith.

Railings outside the park made it easy to put up banners.

DJ Will was killing it on the 1's and 2's. He gets it from his dad who is a famous DJ in Brazil that goes by the name DJ KL Jay.

Carlos Henrique, no stranger of the LA skate scene, came back to Brazil to hold it down for Matriz Skate Shop. Here is a nollie flip boardslide on the rail.

Lucas Rabelo reminded me of Kevin Bradley, with similar tricks and style. Here is a nollie front board.

At every adidas Skate Copa, we give away three special prizes to skaters who stood out the most. This time around it went to Yuri Santos, Thiago Ribeiro, and Carlos Henrique.

Sense Skate Shop ended up in third place overall.

In the end, Ratus Skate Shop ended up taking out the heavily favorited Matriz Skate Shop.

At this adidas Skate Copa stop, the winner of Boost to Bar won a trip to the Global Finals at The Berrics. The homies were hyped for him. I will be sure to get his name at The Berrics.

Brazil adidas rider, Akira Shiroma, blasted over the entire volcano when the contest ended.

When I first arrived to São Paulo, the first thing I noticed was the amount of graffiti everywhere.

They even tagged the vehicles.

Poverty is everywhere.
Profile:

I have never seen a spa where they advertised to bearded men.

The first dinner spot of our trip was Tordesilhas, a traditional Brazilian Restaurant.

São Paulo also has a Little Italy.

In Little Italy of São Paulo there is Templo de Carne created by the famous butcher Marco Bassi. He is known for the skirt steak cut. This place is basically the Bern's of São Paulo.

I went with the Prime Rib.

This is Little Italy on a Friday night. There is no getting through that street with a car unless you want to feel like you are in the middle of a protest or riot. I got in a cab.
