Ryan Clements Rolling All the Damn Time on ABC News

Published 6/20/2014 by Rob Meronek

It's your classic news coverage of skateboarding where it's always funny to see someone outside our tight circle of skateboard culture trying to figure it out. It's super good to see how Innoskate is getting more and more people interested in not just skateboarding itself, but how it works, how it has evolved, its history, and more. Check out a segment from when Ryan was on the news yesterday discussing it. Innoskate starts tonight at the Polk Museum of Art with open skating, food trucks, and bands. Tomorrow morning for Go Skateboarding Day, we're starting in Lakeland Skatepark. See you there, rolling everywhere as our newscaster here would expect.

The Boardr crew was recently in Lakeland for a meeting with city officials and representatives from the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. to discuss an event involving the Lakeland Skatepark and the Polk Museum of Art. The event we're working on in Lakeland will highlight and celebrate a lot of the same things. While we met at the Lakeland Skatepark early that morning, I shot a few photos of everything there. Team Pain and the Lakeland locals that helped design it did a great job with this Park. What's wrong with Tampa and why don't we have something like this already? It's because something got old and forgotten about, then suddenly ended up being a roadblock to progression. I hope our city can work through that mess and get us out of 1970's skateboarding soon. In our regular travel crew of #boardrboys, most of us are dads. Modern Day Dads recently did an interview with Ryan about how becoming a father changes things, how to balance it all, and how amazing and rewarding it is. Here's to all the parents out there getting it done, especially the ones passing along the love of wood and wheels.
